
My love of homemade soup didn’t happen until I was in my mid twenties.
Growing up, it was not something we had in our household. When we did have soup it was canned and not very enjoyable in my opinion
Fast forward to my mid twenties and on a road trip in northern Wisconsin with my BF Karen and we stumbled across a Diner in the middle of nowhere surrounded by cornfields. Thank goodness as we were very hungry at that point.
They offered typical diner food, with a soup special of ‘Beef Barley’. With my lack of interest in soup, I ordered a burger while Karen, having grown up having homemade soup her entire life ordered the soup special. When it arrived it was the most delicious looking bowl of goodness I had ever had the pleasure of smelling.
I quickly ordered a bowl and was immediately hooked on Beef Barley soup.
Thus began my soup journey and for the past 40 years I have been experimenting with and making many different variety of soups honing my soup crafting skills.
